Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you’ve got all this specialized knowledge acquired over a lifetime in your industry, and you’ve realized you have a heart of a teacher. Now you’re at a crossroads. You want to move away from working as a specialist and begin sharing what you know and teaching people.

But there are so many things you could be doing, and you could do them in so many different ways that… you don’t know where to focus your attention. So you try to do everything.

But here’s the problem with that:

You’re riding several horses at once, and each horse is pulling in a different direction.

Not good. You need to pick just one, but, how do you know which horse is the RIGHT one?

You begin with the end in mind.

If you could wave a magic wand and set up any situation you wanted, what would you be asking for? The answer to that is the “horse” you should be riding.

Let me explain

I was at a similar crossroads about 6 years ago. I was having a conversation with Dan Sullivan, the founder of Strategic Coach, and we were talking about our unique abilities like many times before. But this one time, Dan articulated it in a much different way… He said, “What would be the thing that would fascinate and motivate you for the next 25 years?”

This set me off thinking. Applying the 8 Profit Activators to all kinds of businesses fascinates and motivates me the most. But what I never realized before is… I really LOVE applying them in a small and interactive group setting. Suddenly, I had this vision of a boardroom, three days, 12 people, all brainstorming away and hatching “evil schemes”. I got so excited that the moment I got off the phone with Dan, I called Celebration Hotel down the road, booked the boardroom, and sent an email invitation to people on my list…

And the rest is history.

My Breakthrough Blueprint events were born right then and there. Fast forward 6 years, and I’ve done probably over 60 of those events worldwide. I do them nine times a year, every year. But the best thing about it? After all this time, I’m still completely fascinated and motivated like I was for the first one.

And here’s the thing: It all started with this little idea of… What’s the one thing that would keep you excited and motivated for the next 25 years? What do you REALLY want it to look like?

Because you do have a magic wand, you know. And nothing is stopping you from making your next 25 years exciting.

Scott and I go more in-depth on this in the podcast.
