There are many more people out there who can execute a scale-ready algorithm than people who can create an algorithm that’s ready to scale. And the fact that you’re an entrepreneur tells me that you fall into the second category. You’re the creator. And as a creator, you don’t want to get caught up in doing things that feel like you’re limiting yourself, repeating the same thing over and over. Because that’s not energizing for you.

 However

If you want a scale business, you need repeatable and disciplined execution. But here’s the thing: You don’t have to be scaling it if you don’t want to. If you are not interested in taking something from the scale-ready algorithm up to something big, that’s fine. You can always surround yourself with operators and people who thrive on executing checklists.

However, the one thing that’s required of you, and the one thing that only YOU can do, is to figure out the base unit. That single yeast cell from which everything will come off and grow… And for that to happen, you need to be willing to narrow your focus for a contained period. Think about what you could create if you took six, eight, nine, or 12 months and only focused on making that one case study. Collecting evidence and documenting results, making your ultimate laboratory.

What could you achieve if you’d approach this as your life mission, where you take one person and dedicate your time to get them to their “dream come true” result? Because then, once you have that N-of-one study documented, with proven and repeatable results… it becomes the easiest thing in the world to syndicate it to other people in your industry who are more than happy to run with it and make it scale.

But you have to start with the unit of one…
